Man yea it is...being a NZer I have heard so much about the christchurch quakes, even feeling a few of them! And also being in Queensland over January this year, we heard a lot about that too! Getting a train out of the Gold Coast (which wasn't really affected) you could see the damage while travelling through Brisbane. And it played on the news 24/7 too.

Yes it's life, but gosh isn't is just horrifying! So many people have died. It's a rotten shame.
