Sharp abdominal pain?? :/ -

I'm probably worrying over nothing, but on and off today I've been getting a sudden stabbing pain slightly to the left of my belly button (not sure whether that's upper or lower abdomen  ) The pain isn't constant, I might get it and then not feel it again for anything from 20 mins to 2 hours, but when it happens it lasts about 5-6 seconds and it's sore. It feels closer to the surface and sharper than normal digestive/bowel related pain might be. It doesn't seem constant enough to really worry about, but it's kind of annoying. Any ideas on what it might be or how I can get rid of it?? :/
