A poem for my grandmother - October 20th 2012, 12:52 AM

I wrote this poem for my grandmother, she isn't doing too well. Hopefully this will cheer her up. Tell me what you think.

When I think of love, my Mimi comes to mind.

There are so many memories I'd like to rewind.

Twin babies cradled in your arms,

You were teaching us your gentle charms.

Toddlers running through the snow,

"Come on, Mimi. Let's go!"

Days spent catching frogs by the creek,

Making my childhood all the more unique.

Late nights out by the fire,

You told me stories I still admire.

Growing up with you by my side,

Hearing your wisdom made me wide-eyed.

You're compassionate, caring, and kind.

My love for you can't be defined.

I loved you once, I love you still.

I always have, I always will.

If clarity's in death, then why won't this die?
Years of tearing down our banners, you and I
Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts
Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first

The axe forgets, but the tree remembers
