    Hi Rachel,

I didn't actually study medicine I'm afraid - I completed a Law degree at the University of Birmingham last summer. We did cover issues surrounding medical law in quite a few topics though, so that's where my interest in things like this came from and it's kind of carried on ever since.
I know a few people who did study medicine at Birmingham though - it's got an absolutely massive medical school, and I did some research in there - so if you're planning on studying medicine it could be worth a look. They're nearing completion on a massive new hospital next to it so that might be of interest to you. Hope that's helpful and good luck with choosing where to study.

they were really nice actually. i had a meeting with one of the deputy heads and the college nurse and some other guy and they couldn't have been nicer. he just basically said that i can do what i like this year, go to any lessons i can and just take anything i learn this year as a bonus going into next year. i have to let them know by the end of april if i plan to take any exams in may/june so they can withdraw me and it doesn't count as a fail for the college.. but yeah they said a place is open for me next sep so all is good
now i'm having second thoughts as to whether i want to drop pol and take history instead, but then a part of me thinks.. better the devil you know, eh? but i'm just going into college when i can for the social aspect really and going to a few lessons a week, works well

I'd never attack you personally in debates I think you're pretty cool actually, we just have differing opinions on some classic debate topics. And

How important is it to stick to the 47 line guidelines on the personal statement. I'm near my limit now and I'll have a few more things to add as the year goes on. Can I make the font smaller or is there a standardised font size for everyone?
