Therapy isn't all that bad. And if you just say you're depressed, they probably won't tell your parents. They'll tell if you mention self-harm and suicide. But your parents are going to find out eventually one way or another.

Well how about a teacher or an adult at school? You could always tell them it's a life or death situation and you need help.

Yeah, definitely. Infection is certainly more likely if you swim in the lake. That happened to me last summer. But cutting isn't our only option. Have you considered letting people come back into your life?

I have to be careful with what I say; I'm not going to encourage you to self harm. Any place to self-harm is a bad place. Do you plan on swimming during the summer with cuts on your thighs?

Because you're ripping apart your own body. It can cause infection, and in some cases, permanent damage. You could lose the feeling in wherever you cut. You could have to get a limb amputated. You have to hide your cuts and scars. I, for one can no longer wear certain clothes because of my scars. You can black out. Cutting is hard to get out of once you get into it. It's like alcoholism.

When you hear someone who self-harms say it ruined their lives, it's true. I don't want it to ruin your life like it did mine.

I really wish I could be there to help you more. Honestly, there is no place on your body that you can keep them hidden. Cutting just isn't a good idea. I know I sound like a hypocrite but I don't want you to even try it. You think, "Oh, I can do just a few. I'll keep it on this part of my body and I can stop when I want to." But cuts spread like a wildfire. You'll run out of room on a certain part of your body so you'll do it somewhere else. You won't be able to stop. That's what happens to a lot of people.

Yep! I'm glad you didn't cut, though.

Aw, I'm sorry. I know what you mean. I was up crying half of the night.

Yeah, I could feel it before I even started it as well. I hope you're feeling a little better today
