Bruised and broken, she lays on the floor. The attacker came again. She won’t go to the police and she won’t tell her friends. They all wonder why she has those bruises and cuts across her face. She doesn’t show up at school the next day. Her best friend shows up at her house looking for her. He finds her on the floor by the door. He picks her up and takes her to the hospital. They cannot fix her. The attacker came on too strong this time. Her body cannot fight the great fight anymore.

I step outside and the scent of your perfume still lingers there, I miss you. I still remember the look on your face when you said goodbye. You seemed so sad. It hurts to see you that way. The blue in your eyes has faded to gray. Now there is a sadness I cannot fix. From radiant to dull in a matter of moments.

Bright and flashy. Yes that sounds about right. Two sided. Half of me-always bright. The other half- dark and straight forward. Side one, how she puts up with other people sometimes is amazing. She loves to feel. Side two, she feels pain but it’s good. She’s insecure but she has one thing that keeps her going. That one guy that makes her a priority in life.
