Feet get sweaty in work!! (Yum.) - July 10th 2013, 12:30 PM

So this is a bit embarrassing cos it's kind of gross, but basically I work in what has to be the warmest building in Dublin and I'm on my feet for the whole shift, standing and moving around and lifting things up and down stairs etc. (I'm a catering assistant/waitress.) I find that I end up sweating a lot in work - we all do. Our uniform being all black and involving a long apron and having a shirt buttoned up to the neck doesn't help.

The company have provided us with 'safety shoes' that I have to wear as part of my uniform and leave in the changing room between shifts, and my feet get really sweaty in them. I have to wear them whenever I work and I'm worried that they'll start to smell. Wearing socks or tights make it unbearably warm. I wash my feet every day and use deodorant on them but it doesn't help much. I've considered insoles but are they expensive?? Are there any easier ways to help??

Could you spray the shoes with deoderant after a shift?

I get this as well, don't worry!

I find this when I go to karate my feet get sweaty, you can buy insoles called odour eaters, or do what I do, put baby powder/talcum powder on your feet and it will absorb the sweat. I do this and put deodorant on my feet too. You could also spray your shoes with body spray if you are worried about smell.
