3 day emergency supply - October 27th 2026, 12:47 AM

I don’t know what’s happening in other countries . But here in the UK there’s been lots of talk and advice from the government for everyone to get a 3 day emergency supply ready. This includes things like a torch/flashlight with batteries or a rechargeable one, food that can be eaten without cooking ( tins and things like bread), medication, water to last 3 days, warm clothes and basic medical supplies like plasters/bandiads, blankets etc. a power bank or two and a battery or wind up radio
But this all got me thinking. What would you add to yours ? I would add things like a colouring book and pencils or pens, some of those hand warmer things that heat up once exposed to air, and some sanitary products.
What would you include in yours?
They’ve been advising us because of bad weather and storms. That could cause power outages and issues with water supply etc .

'There will be bad days, there will be good days, there will be really bad days, and really good days, and days that are not bad or good but just simply suck, but either way you got through it and you are here today and that is all that really matters''

I’ve heard of these shower wipes you can get off Amazon and I don’t know if they truly work but I’d consider trying them if it’s too dark to shower but I still have washer access. If not I guess baby wipes. Water and some kind of non perishable food. A book or two. Batteries and battery operated radio, if they even still make them lol

I have been in this situation due to hurricanes: I would add: those non-electric Sterno heater cans, the containers they use to store Sterno heated food, and packets (not an entire jar/bottle) of mayo and mustard. As soon as you crack the lid on food like Spam, it breaks the preservation. If you don't have refrigeration, you can keep food at over 60C(allowing you to eat it over the course of the entire day) and it will have the same preserving effect as cooling under 5C. I would add honeybuns as well. Not the most healthy food, but they are a dense source of calories if your appetite is your low due to having to eat emergency food.
