another school shooting - November 17th 2019, 03:19 AM

This shooting was just an hour from where I live. 2 dead, 5 injured, and the shooter killed himself. And I feel like NOBODY TALKED ABOUT IT because of this thing with the President and all this political stuff that was constantly being talked about. My friend and I were talking about this new shooting and she said "how many dead bodies do you need in a high school before people talk about it???"

My school has lockdown drills ever month PLUS fire drills and earthquake drills and cheerleader drills (bad joke I know). I don't feel safe either way but I also don't think about it either.

Anyway, back to school on Monday

I was saddened to hear about another shooting. I have family that's school age and I worry about them immensely. I can't imagine what it's like to be school age. I wish more people would talk about it and do more to combat the issue.

I think you get more and more desensitized as it happens more often. Sandy Hook was about 30-40 minutes away from me, and it's just weird to think about. So sad, but yet it's happening so often now that it's just like another day.

I agree with Dez in regards to becoming desensitized about hearing about school shootings in America and I don't even live there. It's scary to think that there have been SO many in the past year and more and more people are dying from shootings.

I agree with Dez. I was in the eighth grade when Columbine happened, and that first event was scary as hell. But with more and more school shooting happening, the more it becomes something like a part of your daily life; as it would be in a developing country. It's very unfortunate that it has gotten this way; and no change can be made until we speak up to our state representatives to do something about gun control.

You can advocate for awareness and safety, because that's the best you can do at this point.
