If I were a poet

If I were a poet
I'd spare you a bar or five
But instead I'd spare you a quarter
Because as days get shorter,
Life gets harder
And rainy day jars, are
A special kind of joy


And just another stanza
'Cause I can stand to understand
That my statement was understated
If I were a poet, I would be a know-it-all
But I am not a poet.
Just a dreamer who sits by the fire
A magic bean buyer,
I call myself a moet
