Solo: A Star Wars Story review

Solo: A Star Wars Story review
By Jenna (.:Bibliophile:.)

Solo: A Star Wars Story was released last year and I have had the pleasure of seeing it. The movie gives us more information about Han Solo. Han Solo was a major character in the original Star Wars Trilogy. The movie begins with Han and his girlfriend, Kira, trying to escape their home planet because they are being mistreated and forced to work for someone they do not want to. Han and Kira are trying really hard to escape but are separated at the last moment and from there the story takes off with him meeting a group of thieves and working with them to get out of the clutches of dangerous people they decided to work for. Throughout the movie, Han is taught that he can't trust too many people in his life and he learns that there are consequences for trusting people he should not.

I think that this movie was done well. I know there might be people who will disagree but as someone who loved Han Solo in the original trilogy, I was eager to learn more about him. I admit that I was nervous that this movie would not do his character justice and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. I was one of those people who was uncertain about watching the movie because my expectations were so low. I can fully admit that I am glad I took the time to see the movie. I think that this movie would be good for a casual Star Wars fan; someone who knows the movies and enjoys them.

The movie had a lot of humor in it and I think that is what I enjoy the most about these movies. They are full of action, drama and humor. I felt that my favorite character was probably Han. I kind of figured that he would end up being my favorite character but I did grow to love other characters. They also introduce Chewy who is Han's best friend in the original trilogy. I loved the relationship that Han and Chewy developed and watching this movie made me want to watch the original trilogy one last time. I thought the relationship that Han has with Kira was really intriguing. I think the movie also showed that Han truly is a good guy and he will do whatever he can to help the underdog. I think that has always been my reason for liking Han so much. He might not like what he has to do but he does it because he knows it is the right thing to do. He really is a genuinely good person even if he tries to pretend that he is not.

It is possible that the reason I liked this movie so much is because I went into it with low expectations. I figured I wouldn't like it so there wasn't a lot for me to be disappointed about. If you are someone who is on the fence about seeing it I suggest that you give it a try because you might end up feeling similarly to me.
