Seconding Frankie’s DBT comment! I’m the most stable I ever am when I’m doing DBT.

Mending Me
Re: BPD havers where art thou

I have BPD, I was unofficially diagnosed at 15 because at that time they weren’t allowed to diagnose anyone with it before 18. As soon as I turned 18 it went into my diagnoses. It is a very hard disorder to live with. I’m wondering if your therapist have suggested DBT it was designed for people with borderline, I have done it off and on and the last time I did it for 2/3 years. It really does help and if you use the tools and skills you learn in DBT they can really help.

My now therapist actually told me that she thinks if I were to try and get the diagnoses now I wouldn’t meet the criteria anymore. So it is possible to manage it and get the symptoms down a lot to the point it’s doesn’t effect t you as much or were you fully meet the diagnosis.

Makes sense, in my case I definitely have issues with relationships, i'm lucky that my bf is very understanding and that a lot of the rly problematic symptoms I have are directed inwards and i try rly hard to not direct things toward my boyfriend unecessarily. im still surprised he hasn't broken up with me bc i feel like i'm such high maintenance and i'm always anxious he's going to leave me bc of how fucked up i am :c

My therapist and psychiatrist have been working with me for a couple years since i've had mental health issues since i can remember, they mentioned that too that they don't like diagnosing someone as young as me with BPD but that they feel very confidant in the symptoms i've displayed and my hospitalizations and the self harm and psychiatric evaluations and my traumatic past etc. they're also considering bipolar because i do have hypomanic episodes from time to time and can dissociate very hard and lose my grasp on what's real on occasion. i'm sure there's more things wrong with me lol but BPD is something my doctors have pretty firmly agreed is a major cause for a lot of my problems and that they would be shocked if i didn't have BPD in the end.

If you don't mind me asking why are you fighting the BPD diagnosis? Do you feel as though it's an inaccurate diagnosis? I'm curious as to your experiences and feelings and if they're similar to mine

BPD havers where art thou

I have BPD and it's a very difficult disorder to have especially at my age. I was wondering how many of y'all also have it and i want to hear the experiences of others who also deal with it. Maybe I might feel less shitty about myself if I don't feel so alone and utterly insane in all this :,c
