I used to eat Pistachio nuts and bananas - they recommend them for normal cramp due to the high potassium.....used to really help me. Plus, ya know, they're healthy

If you are intolerant of something, lactose or gluten etc, even slightly don't eat it while you have cramps. They will become unbearable!

BANANAS.

I don't particularly like them, but I slice them up and eat them when I get cramps, and they are a great help (:

Thank you , Thank you , Thank you Cara!!! You dont know how much could help me because they make me cry sometimes I'll try some calcium packets.
And the one time my mom told me to drink some coffee because it makes it feel better, she was sooo wrong! It made it worse!
Anyway when it happens again, I'll try this.
THANK YOU CARA! <3

Ways to Relieve Period Pains

I noticed a lot of people seem to be posting about period cramps, both in here and the Sex and Puberty forum. I thought making this thread would be useful. Below are some ways that can help you get through you period cramps

  • Over the counter painkillers (e.g acetaminophen)
  • Prescription painkillers for intense pains (e.g Codeine)
  • Hot water bottle
  • Heat pads
  • Birth control
  • Exercise
  • Distract yourself by doing something you enjoy
  • Zinc and calcium supplements have been found to reduce cramping
  • Stay hydrated
  • Having a warm bath
  • Relax more and reduce stress levels
  • Eat more healthily around the time of your period
  • Reduce caffeine intake as that can cause cramps to be worse
  • Certain herbs and spices such as cinnamon and ginger
  • Orgasms are known to help with pain
  • Reduce intake of salt before starting your period
  • Avoid standing for long periods of time if you get back pain
  • Gentle stretches can help
  • Take a nap
