Oh, it's just not considered desirable - it's lower-class. The floors are crooked painted concrete and the only store that isn't an asian/ cheap/ bargain store is the New World, which is a supermarket. Also people from richer areas think it's "dangerous", and Westfield Manukau is only a 1 stage bus ride away but is much shinier . . . it's all about perception I guess.

And I know loads of people who deliberately wear socks that don't match. I prefer mine to match but I'm not fussed if they don't, so long as they have the same texture.
