I've just read your thread about your band teacher, but didn't want to respond there since the thread's a few days old.
I do think it's quite creepy, tbh. The "whatever our friendship is" suggests that he's not just trying to set any record straight, as some other posters thought.
I know it's not really my business, but if I were you I'd send a REALLY clear message (on Facebook or however) that you didn't intend what he thought you might've, and mention that you friend lots of teachers (for the reasons you mentioned). Then again it was several days ago, so maybe you already have.
