So, last night I convinced myself to go to a teen support group. I had many doubts before going. Like, there not going to like, they will not understand, you donít know anyone so why should you go etc. We started out by doing a check in, but we pick pictures and explained our week from there. It was really hard for me because I havenít explained anything thatís going on in my head to anyone in a long time. We talked about the lies that we tell ourselves and Iíve had those thoughts since at least 7th grade. Anyway, they gave us a paper to do as journaling and Iím going to do it on here because I think the questions are good. So, here it is:
1. Look up 2 Peter 2:19 and rewrite it in your own words.
I said that we make promises to other Christians that it will be ok, but we on the same level as them and go through the same thing as them.
2. Do you feel like your life is being controlled by powerful emotions? Are there any harmful habits you can identify in your life that you canít seem to change or let go off?
Yes I do feel like my life is being controlled by my emotions. Some harmful habits I have are holding my emotions in and then exploding or feeling overwhelmed and crying. I twist my hair and break it off thatís another harmful habit, but it makes me feel a sense of relief and less anxious. I have a hard time letting go of the past. I feel like every time I try to move forward that always is holding me back.
3. Often it is easier to see the lies that others believe, than it is to see how youíve been deceived. What are some lies you see young women around you believing?
I only know one lie people tell themselves is that theyíre fat. Some lies I tell myself is that Iím unworthy, Iím crazy, Iím out-of-control, Iím not sick enough to get help, or that Iím not as bad as that person or that person.
4. How would you like your life to change?
I want a better relationship with my parents and stepparent. I want to have better coping skills and to know how to use them. I want to let people in more because I only let certain people and no one else is allowed in. I want to feel more connected to others.
