My medication prescriber wanted me to get more intensive care and suggested IOP because itís intensive and also involves group therapy so I can get feedback and connect with people. I had the intake today.

They didnít inform me of the fact Iíll have to take a drug test today and that Iíll have to randomly take them to get treatment. I am not even here for the substance use side of things and am kind of angry because although itís a reasonable request I get very pee shy and if theyíre random chances are Iím not going to be able to go and theyíre going to think Iím on drugs. Plus I will test positive for PCP every time. I have before. I donít know why Iím so angry about it but here I am. I was also waiting for an hour after my appointment time to get called in but shit happens.

IOP isnít an option at this point just due to my schedule. Theyíd want me to start within the next two days and that absolutely isnít feasible. Iím going to start a group once a week on Zoom that she thinks will go back to in person in the next few months. I hope so because I absolutely hate zoom for these things. They also donít do individual therapy so if I want that Iíd still have to find someone in Meriden who takes Medicaid.

Sheís another one who said BPD seems more fitting?? Another therapist did too but my prescriber and I ruled it out and said bipolar 2 made more sense. She didnít see BPD. But the intake person saw BPD and not bipolar. Am confused. She also suggested a medication adjustment and talked about medical marijuana but I thought we looked once and found I wasnít eligible.

Time to take Ativan and fuzz out.

Sorry to hear about your experiences- I would feel the same if I was told I had to take a pee test because I find it difficult to do that when I need to as well. Feeling angry about all of this is completely valid.

It must be confusing to hear another professional suggest BPD and how that conflicts with your prescriber. One of my close friends was diagnosed with BPD and has been on medication and in and out of therapy for nearly 10 years, only to recently find out that he may be autistic. Sadly, that's true for many people with a BPD (mis)diagnosis. Just goes to show that even professionals don't always get it right at times!

Hope you are hanging in there
