cutting questions

i recentkly started cutting again and last night i was choosing who i was going to tell how i was going to tell them and when. but then i realized that i dont WANT to tell anyone! also i have a question about cutting. well i started with using a sharpish part of a survival tool but it never bled. then i switched to first grader sccisors. then i broke a mug on the floor while making hot chocolate for me and my brother( who wasnt home quite yet) and when i finished crying as much after my brother got home and was starting to shovle the drive way i was picking up the peices os broken glass with a firm grip ( i really didnt care if i got cut) and found that a peice punktured my finger easily! i snuck afew peices into my pocket and finished up but my question is is if you can get infected if you use glass? i also use comon hand soap to clean the cuts i cut three times yesterday( one on my hip two on my wrist) and the ones on my wrist are redy green coulor and the one on my hip hurts when i run my finger over it!

my guess is almost anything could cause an infection when it cuts you. do you have any neoporin or something like that? using hand soap was a good idea. everything will probalby be ok. but see if you have some neoporin anyway. plesae talk to me any time you want to, k? stay strong girl!

If it will help you to stop, then tell someone. If you think you can stop on your own, then you don't HAVE to tell anyone, but it helps to have support. You obviously know cutting isn't healthy, so even if you don't want to tell someone because you want to keep doing it, don't. Feel free to PM me if you want to.

As for infections: Anything you use can cause an infection if it's not sterilized. Just keep antibiotic ointment of some sort on it until it is fully healed. Bandaids also help keep it clean.

Using hand soap is okay, I suppose. I wouldn't think it would make it worse. Just might hurt. And if your cuts are green, then it may be infected. Keep an eye on them, keep them clean, and if it gets worse or it becomes very severely sore and red, you need to tell someone so you can get proper care.

Cuts of any sort are going to hurt if you touch them, but again keep an eye on them and if they start getting worse and not healing, let someone know as soon as you notice.

As long as you keep it clean, it shouldn't get infected. maddies right. neosporin is a good way to make sure it doesn't. if not you could clean it with hydrogen peroxide.

Anything that you can use to self harm with can cause your infection. Be sure to keep the injuries clean, though. I'd recommend using an ointment like Neosporin or Bacitracin too, and watch for any signs of infection.

Keep it as clean as you can, and try and cover it with a bandage so as to prevent any dirt getting into it.

Clean it regularly. If it gets any worse, see a doctor as soon as possible
