Flashbacks after rape or sexual abuse

i was just woundering if you have suffered from flashbacks or not if so, what have you done so that it wont affect your life so much

ive come to the sad fact that u can never really forget... u can maybe forgive and move on with ur life but... there will always be that scar that keep u distance from the rest of the world and it might or might not ever go away... u just have to try to live...

I was raped 7 years ago and suffered from flashbacks for quite a while. Thankfully, I rarely get them anymore and if I do, they don't bother me as much or for as long. Part of it is a time thing, and I think the other part was talking about. If I am in control of remembering, then I find that the flashbacks lessen. It was probably the hardest thing for me to deal with, but it does get better.
