Erm... So THIS Just Happened - Yesterday, 09:35 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of rape or abuse, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

Me and my dad forgot to buy my mom's plastic bag which she uses to pack the clothes that she sells and basically she was kinda itching about it. I mean, it was annoying but it was normal tbh I didn't get too scared or angry at her like it just happens who cares. But my dad got really pissed about it and started to throw my trophies towards her. Now, I would like to think that me and my dad are quite similar, not just because my mom at times like to say that I'm just like my dad. So with that being said, I believe that my dad intentionally threw the trophies at the wall near my mom. But still, even if it didn't hurt her physically I was worried that it'll be the last straw for her and she decides to up and leave.

Where was I during all of this? Well to give some visual, my mom was sitting at the top of the stairs meanwhile my dad was throwing my trophies from the bottom of the stairs. Me on the other hand, I was in the middle of the stairs holding my cat. So basically I was in the middle of the two of them.

I didn't want to cry because then it would complicate things but I ended up tearing up anyways. Luckily I didn't show any other physical signs I was crying other than the tears, but I was also sweaty at the time so I hope they thought that I was still sweating.

I would like to say that this is completely out of character but to be honest he has done this multiple times in the past, not towards my mom but usually towards me or my younger brother. I still vividly remember when he tore my book apart and threw it across the room. My mom ended up taping it together and the only place where I felt safe enough to read it is in my bathroom because my dad can't come in while I'm shitting or whatever.

Anyways, now I'm not terribly worried. It's in my mom's nature to brush these off easily. And as for my dad, he ended up buying us (me and my brother, not my mom) some nice food and new shoes. I don't really like my dad, he's a loser and he's making less money than my mom was when she's still working at her job. But he's the only source of stable income in this family and I'd suck it up until I'm able to earn myself some good money. That or he dies.

Just because your mom brushes it off and your dad buys you nice stuff after, doesn’t mean it’s not abuse. Throwing things when angry and destroying people’s property is abusive. I know you have to interact with your father since you live there but I would try to avoid things that cause arguments when possible to avoid him reacting like that. Maybe you can talk to your mom about how all of this makes you feel. She can support you through it and give you tips on how to handle it. She might even be willing to talk to your dad for you and tell him how his behaviors are affecting you. Remember that no matter what, it is not your fault that your father acts like that when he’s angry.

The sun is always gonna rise up
You need to get up, gotta keep your head up
Look at the people all around you
The way you feel is something everybody goes through
