Tattoo Consultation - November 26th 2009, 05:22 PM

Alright so I have a tattoo consultation with the artist I'm getting it done by on December 9th. What should I bring to this? I know I should bring pictures of the main parts of my tattoo but should I bring anything else?
I'm having the two pictures attached to this post. The one of the moon on my upper arm and the one of the huntress on my lower arm. I'm having it mostly black and gray with possibly a tiny bit of the darker colours.
I was really wondering if anybody had any ideas of how to turn it into a full sleeve? Right now my plan is to have a background on the bottom one extend to the sky of the top one, but I'm wondering if anyone has a different idea I could possibly use?

Maybe you should bring colors? I went to a hardware store and look samples from the paint section, and then said, this is the color I want my tattoo.
I would also bring up cost. It is good to have a general idea to the cost it is going to be, and if it will take more than one day to do, depending on how large they are. For me, there was other cost then the tattoo besides lotion, so maybe set aside ten dollars for non-scented lotion, like Curel.
I hope that your tattoos turn out nice, I want pictures!!!

Re: Tattoo Consultation - November 27th 2009, 07:55 PM

I think I'm going to have my sister bring colours, I'm a bit colour blind.
So I've decided on my final tattoo, but I have one more question.
Would two half sleeves from the elbow to wrist generally cost less than one full sleeve?
Since this is a gift from my dad, he's set a price limit of around $1000 and I'm willing to pitch in a little bit but I don't have a job right now. I'm trying to see if I can save a little money going that route. Don't want to get the full sleeve done unless I can pay for what I actually want, and $1000 doesn't cover it all. :P

You need to ask the artist what he will charge you for your options. Every artist is different.. therefore every sleeve/half sleeve varies in price

Re: Tattoo Consultation - November 28th 2009, 12:34 AM

I asked him and he said he charges $150/hour for everything except pieces that take less than 3 hours and that he couldn't give me too great of an estimate until the consultation.
Was kind of wondering what the general, average, ballpark costs were so I knew which pictures I need to print off. Coloured ink is not cheap
Looks like I'll be bringing everything anyways.

I'm so excited, this feels like waiting for Christmas when I was 6!

If anyone wants to see what the person I'm going to has done his name is Doug Fink. He's the first two results if you google him.

That's good
My artist charges by
the size of the work.

If you have a plain outline of what you want make sure you bring that in.. Sometimes it's hard to trace over colored pictures lol

Just to answer the ideas for turning it into a full sleeve.
I think it would be awesome if you had like a forest scene on the lower part of your arm.
With trees extending into the sky.
Then the one with the moon in the sky.
It seems like it would tie together well.
Just an idea. =)

I'll do whatever it takes to be the mistake you can't live without.
