tattoo places - January 25th 2011, 08:56 PM

I've been wanting a tattoo for awhile now. I want it to remind me about the good things in life, so when I'm low I can look at it and have a physical reminder.

I can't decide where I want it. I was thinking on my wrist, but I think that would be too visible. My two possibilities are my hips (where I've self-harmed lately) or my right upper thigh (where I used to self-harm). Would a tattoo on my right upper thigh look out of place? It'd have to be kind of big to cover all the scars. I also can't decide on what I want! For my hips it would be words, but I have no idea about the thigh, b/c I can't decide what wouldn't seem awkward. Anyone have any ideas?

Hips sound good.
On the inside of your arm, just below the elbow, i think thats a nice place to get a tattoo, and can easily be covered.
Ankle? Or, erm, thats all I can think of! lol

You might want to check into it and see if you can tattoo over scar tissue, cuz I'm not positive that they can.

I think I can over this, but I might go get a piercing there and ask him to check. The scar tissue on my leg is a few years old and no longer raised, so I think that's good. I think I've decided on my upper right thigh. Maybe a sunrise with a blue swallowtail butterfly unfolding it's ring (like they do right after they get out of the cocoon). This would have a lot of symbolism for me

Would it look awkward though? It'd be on my right upper thigh (front side)

I really don't know, and it's something I've been trying to figure out for a while now too. I'm also considering getting a tattoo there, but I feel like it would look weird.

Sorry I can't be of more help
