First Tattoo!! - January 13th 2012, 06:13 AM

Hey,
so i'm getting my first tattoo in april, after i turn 18, its kinda a small one but really meaningful. I'm getting " Veni, vidi, Vici" which means i came, i saw, i conquered in latin, im getting done across my collerbone area, its really meaningful because it just kinda symbolizes that im a fighter and can make it through anything. so i was just hoping for any tips from people with tattoos..? any tips would be useful or suggestions.
Thanks!!

That's a wonderful idea for a tattoo, especially since it's so meaningful to you.

As for some tips, just remember to follow the artists advice on caring for it afterwards. You'll have to keep it covered for a few hours after it's done, and they'll give you specific instructions on what to use to make sure it heals properly. Since it's getting done on your collarbone area, make sure you wear t-shirts that are loose fitting. You don't want to wear anything tight since it can rub against the tattoo, causing irritation. That's basically all you have to really know about tattoo's.

Good luck!

I think its a good idea as well
If you really want it for the rest of your life and it has meaning (which it does), then I say go for it!
My advice is don't psych yourself out before you get it done. Tattoos are made to look like they hurt a lot in movies and such, but it really isn't too bad depending on what part of your body you get it done on. I don't think your collar bone will be too painful, but pain tolerance is different for everyone.
The pain is only temporary for an awesome design that's with you forever. Its definitely worth it

Sounds awesome, I love latin. It's a complete turn on that my boyfriend studied latin in High School lol

Just saying, collar bone tattoo will hurt like a bitch, mostly just on the actual bones. Though I also heard that hip tattoos hurt the worst, and mine barely hurt at all... Either way, I'm sure it'll be worth it. The tattoo shop should give you a little pamphlet or sheet with aftercare instructions, follow them TO THE LETTER.

But yeah, as Nicole said, don't psych yourself out before getting it done. The biggest mistake people make is worrying about the pain.

Take me seriously.
I dare you.
