Got my Self harm awareness tattoo... -
January 15th 2012, 07:47 PM
Yesterday I got my tattoo finally. it is the self harm ribbon with butterfly wings. This way my butterfly can't wash off so it's a constant reminder to be strong and keep fighting. I will be putting pics up on my page soon. Please wish me luck on my road to recovery. We all know it is a difficult journey. Good luck to all of you out there who are fighting as well. LOVE YOU!!!

That sounds like a really nice tattoo, and a good idea to keep fighting. I can't wait to see pictures, it seems really beautiful. Good luck, and stay strong, you definitely can do this!

You know what! Getting a butterfly tattoo shows that you want to fight SH. I won't make butterflies because then I will feel guilty if I cut and it will make me not cut which I don't wan to do. So congratulations on getting the tattoo!! I am proud of you <3

I did think of it I love the tattoo. It's nice. when it heals up nice is when I will post pictures. The best part is that It didn't hurt and it covers some scars on my arm. So far I am very pleased with it.

That sounds like an awesome tattoo! I want to get a small butterfly tattooed too, as a constant reminder. I can't wait to see the pictures!! Stay strong, girl.

I have a really bad phobia of butterflies so I draw music notes on my arm. If I cut, I'm breaking the flow of music in my veins (if you can't tell, I'm a musician till the day I die). It helps me a lot more than the butterfly project haha. I call mine the Mozart Motion

aww yay! I did the same thing about a year ago, I got two tattoos in the spot that I always cut. They are a good reminder and if anyone asks if its recommended I would say yes. Congrats for going a step in the right direction. I hope it helps you. (:

Thank you friends. I appreciate all of the support more than I can tell you. It means a lot and honestly this is something I would recommend as well. Although I have a long journey through recovery ahead of me I think that I am in the right direction. I need this and well we all need something. If you find something latch on to it and fight. Love you all!

congrats I just want to say I have a tattoo like that too it says recovery with two self-harm ribbons on it and I got it when I was 2 years cut free well i was four years cut free but now I've started again and have thought about just cutting through the tattoo because now it means nothing but that is not true so i just wanted to say if you do end up cutting don't beat yourself up or ruin the tattoo we all have slip ups mine only took 4 years from the time i got out of the hospital
