I like this article. My friend Maeve is what she likes to call a "chapstick" bi girl- as in, she's not girly nor butch, but most would assume that she is straight, and that she has to come out of the closet over and over.

Yeah, I totally agree with this. Most people WOULD assume I'm straight when they look at me. I mean, I'm not into dresses or skirts or anything but I like my jewelery and nail polish and stuff. I mean, I don't know for sure if I'm a lesbian or not but at this point in my life I'd rather have a girlfriend which is hard when everyone assumes I'm straight. It's good that this person is challenging the stereotype!

I loved that article. I consider myself a lesbian and am rather feminine. I like my makeup and my hair and occasional jewelery. And going off that, my mom says she believes me and supports me but I also think that even because of my appearance she still doubts me.

I think it's a great article. It's a big problem ~ I'm not the girliest of girls, but I don't particularly want to cut my hair short or wear non-feminine clothes just to fit into people's stereotype. But that makes it a bit crap when people think I'm either straight or going through a phase or equal bullshit. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one!!

This article is lovely. I like it a lot.
From day one I talked about getting out
But not forgetting about
How all my worst fears are letting out

When breathing just passes the time
Until we all just get old and die

Oddly enough... I was just thinking about this one ModCloth dress I was looking at and liked while I read this... Hm... But any how, I definitely think this is so true People to often associate lesbians (or even bi girls depending on whose stereotype you adopt) are butch. Or emo if you went to my high school since all the "out" lesbians I knew about (or the majority of) were emo haha... It's to bad because its a ridiculous stereotype to assume that fashion sense (and I'm guessing sporting/hobby interests also correlate here) are some how are linked and stem out of a persons sexuality. So I think this is a good article because she quite accurately depicts how frustrating that can be.
