LGBTQ+, Sexuality and Gender Identity This forum is for you to explore your sexuality and identity, whatever that may be.
This is a month to celebrate our wonderful LGBTQ+ community! Pride is still important because somewhere a young person today still believes that they can’t be themselves. They are still facing hate and discrimination, are still being disowned by families and are still in danger because of who they are. Everybody deserves to be accepted for being themselves and TeenHelp is here to support all of our community to get the help they need.
We hope you will use Pride Month to celebrate all of our diversity, and perhaps if you don’t know enough about the LGBTQ+ community, take the time to explore and learn. Here are a few ideas you could try this month:
Show your own pride however is right for you
Show your love for the community – wear a rainbow
Find local events to attend near you, there may be a parade or a picnic for instance
Learn something new – Read articles, stories and meet LGBTQ+ people
Ask older members of the community about their experiences from the past
Visit a local venue, such as an LGBTQ+ restaurant, cafe or bar
Make a donation to a charity doing good work for the community
We’re seeking more stories to publish from our members, so please considering taking the time to submit your own story or get in touch with us and we’re happy to help you put it together.
Do you ever get a little bit tired of life
Like you're not really happy but you don't wanna die
Like you're hanging by a thread but you gotta survive
'Cause you gotta survive
I hope everyone had a good pride month, and can continue to carry that pride for the rest of the year - whether that's in private or publicly. It doesn't matter what your identity is or how open you are about it, you're welcome under the LGBTQ+ umbrella and should feel able to be yourself.
(We don't have a rainbow emoji so I figured the balloons were close enough. )
