Yeah, it can be kind of confusing at first. You've really got the profile part of it down, adding pictures and your About Me, and all of that jazz. Basically, the Support forums are there for your own use, and you can click into any forum, and from there make your own thread, or post on someone else's The Chat Room is also super great, you need Java for that though
Um... yeah other than that it does get easier so don't fret
