Well, my math professor did that proof in class and came up with that, so I would assume it's correct...*shrug* He did say it wasn't entirely exact, because he really calculated the volume of a bagel...maybe that's why it's different? Sorry it took so long to reply - I'm not online much.

Isn't the volume of a donut

V = pi*l*(R-r)^2

where l is the depth of the doughnut, R is the radius from the centre to the edge and r is the radius of the small hole.
