    Sarahhhh. Hi! Let me tell you about THE RESCUE. Sorry I missed your chat PM! Just told someone else about this, so here:

    There's a war in Uganda going on that's started over twenty years ago, and now it's under the direction of the [rather awful, abusive] Joseph Kony. He has "child soldiers" - they're part of the LRA - the Lord's Resistance Army. There's tons of them, and they are trained to fight and kill, and abduct other children from their homes at night. They tie them to ropes and threaten to kill them or their families if they talk or misbehave. They take them to the bush, which is where Kony stays and will not come out. Thus far, other countries refuse to get involved, but we're hoping for a peaceful protest. The bush/ Kony are surrounded by TONS of children with guns and weapons ready to kill. These kids are Invisible because no one sees them, and not many care about who they are. Their families haven't seen them since they got abducted, they have no idea who they are.

    So, in 150 cities and 10 countries, people who knew/cared about the cause met. We, in Birmingham, met in a parking lot. We tied ourselves to ropes and carried what we could carry. We walked four miles without making eye contact with any passerbys. Once we got to the site, we set up our own camp. "LRA" camp, we called it. People set out blankets and tarps and sleeping bags to spend the night. We wrote letters to senators, and waited for our "mogul" or celebrity to come "rescue" us - ie: show up at teh event and give an impromptu speech.

    Ours came at 10:00PM - Matthew Mayfeild. Then, the lead singer from Wild Sweet Orange came later. They both talked a bit and shared some music with us. I left around 12AM, but some people stayed all night. And I met some AAMAAAAAZING people.
