Why not to treat special needs people diffrently...

Posted January 22nd 2016 at 05:07 PM by David Armes

As one of my first articles for TeenHelp, and really wanting to impress everyone, I thought I would start with something very close to my heart.

I have the believe that everyone no matter their status or religion or even if they are straight or gay has the right to do whatever they want with life whatever that maybe. That is the case for most people until you get to those with disabilities. These are the people that are overshadowed when it comes to the little things in life which...

Experience the great outdoors

Posted October 12th 2015 at 09:24 AM by David Armes

The outdoors can be the best way to get over any mental illness. The fresh air can clear your mind and if you are in the country it can make you feel free.

However as you maybe ill there are 2 very important things that you should remember before going

Firstly never go alone as if anything happens that could put you in danger. The wild can be dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing and as you could not understand the dangers go with someone that does.

Holidays and the benefits

Posted October 12th 2015 at 09:03 AM by David Armes

Holidays are the best as they can offer some well-earned rest when you are feeling a bit down. A few days away can really boost your mood if you are feeling down and you can see things that are truly unique if you go away on holiday. I went to America in the summer for example and for me the holiday helped me to get over the stresses and emotions of depression and life.

Make sure if you go on holiday that you go somewhere that you like because that will help you like it even more....

Money side

Posted October 12th 2015 at 08:51 AM by David Armes

Money can be a worry if you don’t have an income or a very low income. Counselling can cost a lot of money if you go through with it privately which is a problem. However, there is one way around it if you can’t afford it. GPs can refer you to it meaning that you don’t pay for any of the treatment given to you because it is paid for by the NHS which however means you have to push a lot to be given the treatment as they are not very willing. It can save you a lot of money however saying that if...

Dealing with the pressures of home

Posted September 21st 2015 at 09:05 AM by David Armes

Home life can be challenging at times because of all the changes that will need to be made to help you make yourself better. However people at home may not be as accepting to the changes as you are so it is important that you can respect.

Don’t be surprised of you find that people do get a bit moody towards you for a while. This is perfectly normal as it can be hard for people to accept the changes that you are going to have to make. The best piece of advice that I can give on the...

Keeping friendships alive

Posted September 21st 2015 at 08:52 AM by David Armes

Friendships are one of the most important things for someone to have when they are mentally ill. It is so important to have someone out there that you can have a chat with when you are feeling a bit down and it is nice to have company should you need it.

However sometimes the strain of the work you put on them can take its toll on the friend and you need to understand that they may need some time away from the strain of everyday life whilst keeping friendships healthy.

Circle of death

Posted September 20th 2015 at 07:28 AM by David Armes

The circle of death is something that my councillor told me about a few weeks ago. In its most simple terms it is a circle that is split into 3 sections that I will explain.

The first is soul. This is YOUR soul and your mind. If you get depressed over the death of a loved one then this is the section that you will fall into. When they refer to the soul they are talking about how your mind copes, the types or emotion that you show and your will to go out and do things. This is mental...

How to cope

Posted September 14th 2015 at 08:50 AM by David Armes

Coping with something like this can be one of the toughest questions you may ask yourself. It can often be quite daunting when you realise that this is reality and you have to get over this but with some easy steps it can work.

Resting is one of the most important things anyone can do during this time. Nobody is going to think that you are stupid because of it and if you need to rest a lot then that can happen. Most people won’t mind even seeing you in bed if you are down because...

It is ok to cry

Posted September 14th 2015 at 08:40 AM by David Armes

One of the hardest things I for one found is crying. I just simply did not want to do it.

I felt really low for a while because I had built my emotions up which one of my friends thought was stupid. He suggested crying as a technique which does work. I would suggest that if you decide to go on with this method to do it in private maybe at night. It will make you feel better in the long run.

Crying helps to express emotions out and helps to clear the mind. However daunting...

How to take care of yourself

Posted September 14th 2015 at 08:33 AM by David Armes

Taking good care of yourself is important when you feel in a very bad way. There may be times when feeling down is normal and you need to learn (sometimes in hard ways) to cope with these.

The most important thing to remember is that this isn’t the end of the world. You have to learn (sometimes in hard ways) to cope with these.

The most important thing to remember is that this isn’t the end of the world. Keeping a positive mind is one of the first most important things...
