What are some effective ways to stop cutting? - June 7th 2013, 12:08 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

So I've recently started cutting myself, I haven't told anyone and no one has noticed. I want to stop for my own sake as well a for those around me etc. So I tried to stop but its a bit more difficult than I thought it, at first I thought it would be something i would do once and stop withing a week, But then i only wanted deeper cuts. Does anyone have any good tips/ideas on how to stop cutting?

Hey smithj thanks a ton. It's a relief to have someone to talk with. It's a bit hard because I have no one I can talk with at school about this ad I'm worried if I don't stop it will cause a ton of problems (both health and social) and I feel like I should stop before someone does take notice. I'm not sure how to pm but it'd be great if we could.

Hello, and to TeenHelp!

As Jason mentioned, we have an alternatives list. You can consider making a calm down jar or paper stars It's all about the distraction. And congrats for wanting to stop, that's a big step.
