How did you guys handle falling and hurting your knee(s)? - October 13th 2022, 09:57 PM

I fell 2-3 months ago and my knee was messed up for a few weeks or so. I just applied whatever I could use as ice packs. Has anyone else fell and hurt their knees before? What did you do?

I used heat which probably is a bad idea? I’m not sure. And ibuprofen.

Hi,

I'm sorry you fell down and hope that you will be okay soon. I always use Aspercreme, this works well, maybe you can use it too if you would like to. Ice is always good to use. Also if you have any aspirin, this can help if you still have any bruising, if you don't have any bruising, try using tylenol or ibuprofen to help you to feel better. If you are not feeling better, try going to your doctor for some help. I hope you will be okay soon.

I would use OTC medication for the pain unless it persists. If it does, then I would reach out to your physician and go from there.

I actually went to the doctor a bit after and they didn't seem super concerned. Just said to do ice packs and OTC pain meds if needed. This was 2-3 months ago or so, and we also did have that cream I applied to the knee. It took 2-3 weeks or so, but didn't look like it was out of place or anything.

They probably didn't do X-Rays because of insurance coverage issues and they didn't feel like it was too pressing. But if your knees are still giving you a difficult time after a couple months, I would insist on getting it done.
