Did anyone catch the first episode of the new season last night? I was hoping they would pick girls who you could relate to easily, like in the first season (I was obsessed with Teen Mom haha), but I didn't care for Janelle too much...
I felt bad for her because her mom was a little over-bearing, and her boyfriend wasn't in the picture (no surprise there), but you can't expect to have a baby and still go out partying all the time. She was lucky her mom put up with that.
I mean, I knew having a baby was going to be hard, and it ended up being 10x harder than what I was prepared for. But shereallyunderestimated it. She honestly thought having a baby was going to be easy?
What does everyone else think?

I didn't expect this season to be as good as the first one and I wasn't surprised. Considering the situation and her attitude, I don't think the mom was being overbearing she was trying to get through to her the reality of what was going on and I really think she needed it. I couldn't believe how nieve she was or how little she seemed to care about the baby, some of that might've been editing though.
I kind of see all these girls falling into catagories already. There will be ones like Farrah who learn the hard way that partying and motherhood don't mix and/or are single parents
There will be those like Maci, who take to it extremely well
There will be couples like Amber and Gary who stay together and fight all the time
and there might be another girl who chooses adoption

Okay already wanting to put her son in day care at 3 weeks old? Seriously? I wanted to punch her in the face. Her boyfriend wasn't great either. She was so disrespectful. If your mature enough to go and have sex you are mature enough to raise i kid i would think. Its not her mom's kid, it's HERS. The partying is NOT important. Grrrrrrr.
Honestly, pretty much all the girls seem really dumb to me. They don't look like they know how to take care of the kids. From the ones I've seen, all of them are going to f up soon.

Well I mean, they are 16 year olds with babies. Most of them talk about not using any protection at all when they got pregnant. That just says something about them right there.
They are young and clearly had no idea what they were getting themselves into. They weren’t thinking about the future, or the fact the guy they are with right now will most likely leave if they do get pregnant. And I am sure even then pregnancy is far from their thoughts.

Next MTV hit "13 and pregnant"
I havn't seen the new season, but I did watch the last one and the "Teen Mom" but I saw the trailer and it didn't catch my eye this new season.
Everyone is born right-handed. Only the greatest overcome it.

Pretty much, I rest my case

I'm excited to watch the one tonight just to see if its any better... but from the previews I've seen I kinda doubt it. They all seem equally immature. Buut, I'm just hoping this show convinces girls not to have babies so young, and doesn't encourage them instead...

It's so frustrating to me. Some teen moms do an amazing job and they really need to be acknowledged for that. Then, they create this show and make all teen moms look bad and as though they don't know what they're doing. I feel for the babies on the show. Maci was one of the really good moms that should be highlighted on the show! I'd rather continue with Teen Mom and those 4 girls then see all of these new girls.
I really liked the first season, but so far the second one isn't to my liking. I know they're all young, but I'm sorry, if you're responsible and mature enough to have sex, then you're also responsible and mature enough to accept the consequences. Hopefully teenagers will learn one day that having sex at a young age isn't always the best idea. Lets see what the new season brings.

I second this.
I've seen a few episode of the first season.
Teen Mom- Not so much
and the new season - didn;t catch my eyes.
Ughhh, the girls annoy me.
There is only one person who could ever
make you happy, and that person is you.

I think the first season did a really good job of showing the different situations, moms without the support of the father, moms with the support of the father, couples that break up, couples that try to work it out.
I think it’s good that they don’t just show the moms who are amazing. Because I think it is good to educate the public, particularly teens, that motherhood is not an easy thing, and there are so many different things that can go wrong or that will change your life forever. So showing the moms who have a really difficult time or who appear really immature will hopefully make teens think twice about getting pregnant. And hopefully they will take the precautions necessary because they don’t want to be in that same situation. If all the moms on there did a great job, it would mislead other teens that maybe having a baby is not that difficult.
So, I think it is a good thing they have a variety. I mean so far this season they have only had one person, so I can’t really judge it yet. But I am just thinking they used one of the more dramatic episodes to catch people’s attention to get them to watch the rest of the season.

I liked the first season, but from what I have already seen, I am not liking it. Specially since all the girl wanted to do was go hang out with her friends and leave the baby home with her mom.
We have this programme in the UK, but for UK people. Do you find that most people go on the show are from lower income families? I wonder why that is, its not like there are no middle to upper class teenagers who get pregnant and have children, maybe they just don't want to go on the show? I'd really like them to find an upper class teenager because I'd feel like I'd relate more.
Religion is like a penis.
It's fine to have one.
It's fine to be proud of it.
But please don't whip it out in public and start waving it around.
And PLEASE don't try and shove it down my throat.
Yeah all of these girls pretty much have the same story. They all have a major attitude, disrespect everyone, and end up getting screwed over by their boyfriends who they think will stick around... its annoying. Lets have another Macy, please! Sadly, I'm sure thats how most teenage pregnancy turns out

I don’t know about the UK show, but there were a couple of families on 16 & Pregnant (America) last season that where more upper middle class, like Farah.

Hm there haven't been any upper class people that I've seen on the UK show. I'll see if I can find a place to watch the episode you're talking about ... what series was it?

You can watch all the full episodes HERE I don't know if it works outside the U.S. though, some shows are like that.
