Re: Your Religious and/or Spiritual Beliefs -

I'm a Christian, but I'm very curious and interested in other people's religion. I like hearing the stories and the ideas and fundamentals behind their religion.
So I have two questions:
-What is a green path Wiccan? Excuse me if this is offensive, it's not meant to be, but are their other colors of paths or is this just like a denomination?
-What is the difference between Atheist and Agnostic?
- what is a Universalist?
Also a side note, I know a lot of people get irritated when Christians like myself try to talk about our religion, but please do understand, our religion encourages us to do so. If we don't in some denominations, that means damnation. So please, next time a Christian starts talking about god, please at least give them the time of day for a while. They aren't required to make you convert, just to make sure everyone knows what Christianity is in the first place.

I don't know about Wicca, but an Atheist is someone who does not believe that God exists and an Agnostic is someone who isn't sure whether God exists or not. A Universalist may or may not believe in God, I've read that most don't. Here's a link to their 7 Principles:http://www.uua.org/beliefs/what-we-believe/principles
I can also update my own again I was raised non-practicing Catholic, but now consider myself a non-denominational Christian. Basically I believe that God exists and has a plan for me, but I have trouble agreeing with and believing everything in traditional Christianity.

i have actually decided to change my vote as well as my "label."
i have been raised catholic, and i attend a catholic church regularly as well as a catholic school. however, due to my own personal reasons, i doubt quite often that i am fully catholic as i do not agree with many parts of the religion. but, i do not like calling myself non-denominational either. christian yes, i am well aware that i believe in god. i also, however, believe that there is something that connects all people that can be fluid among all of us, and it could be a god to me but it could be something else to someone else, and for that reason, many other religions interest me and could be valid to me, even if i do not practice them.
so if this makes any sense, i am a very open and fluid christian who practices as a catholic.

I'm a fairly hardcore atheist. That's only in my own personal beliefs though, I'm not really anti-religious like some other strong atheists are. I oppose religion having influence on law or government, which leads some people to think I'm antitheistic, but I don't have a problem with people believing in whatever it is they believe in, so long as they don't force it on me or on other people who don't want anything to do with it.

I am not an Atheist nor am I religious. My type of beliefs are... complicated.
Because it's kind of scientific to define my beliefs.
I believe we shouldn't believe in anything just "yet". Instead of assuming you know the truth of the universe and it's all God, god, god, god, god, god...
We should search for the truth in the universe, only then we can truly disprove anything (or even prove) of God and other certain beliefs.
So really, we should be pushing our science to the limits so Humanity can be further to finding out where we really come from... as well as all things in the universe.
It may take billions of years, but it's the right way to conclude what is and what is not.
The sooner Humanity realized all Religions are flawed without scientific facts, the sooner we can come to live in peace and evolve as a species beyond anything you can possibly imagine. Although I believe in that, I totally believe there's a better way forward for Humanity as I believe we should reach our true potential... We will become an beautiful, powerful and dominant species and it's my belief as my duty to see to it. I believe we should be servants to the universe.
Also I'm not dumb enough to believe Morales came from God or something else, it actually came out of society because we care for those we love as family even if they do not know us. We stand together or die apart...
So these Morales are in us to guide us to the apex of evolution i guess...
Anyway, sorry for a somewhat complicated system of my beliefs... but it'll take an essay to explain it in depth lol

I am a Christian, I have been to church since I can remember. I belong to a UCC. I believe in evolution and science but I believe God is behind all those things and that the created it and made it happen. I also believe that some things in the bible are outdated to this modern day.

Catholic, considering a hybrid of Jewish/Catholic/Islam. Can you do that, and just call yourself an "Abrahamist" or something like that? They worship the same God.

They mostly follow the Bible, or use it as a guide, but not as an ultimate source of truth. One of the people I admire, who is religious, is a leader of a band mewithoutYou. I believe he is a Universalist. His mother or father was Christian, then converted to Judaism, and the other was Islamic. He has this idea that truth comes from all religions in where they unite. He believes in Jesus as his "savior", but believes truth can also be found in other religions.
[edit]
In fact, I just found this under their belief on Sacred Texts:
"One might say that life is our scripture. While Unitarianism and Universalism both have roots in the Protestant Christian tradition, where the Bible is the sacred text, we now look to additional sources for religious and moral inspiration. Over two centuries, our religious tradition, a “living tradition,” has branched out from its roots. We celebrate the spiritual insights of the world’s religions, recognizing wisdom in many scriptures.
When we read scripture in worship, whether it is the Bible, the Dhammapada, or the Tao Te-Ching, we interpret it as a product of its time and its place. There is wisdom there, and there are inspiring stories, but scripture is not to be interpreted narrowly or oppressively. It can be beautiful, inspirational and wise. But in our tradition, scripture is never the only word, or the final word.
From the beginning we have trusted in the human capacity to use reason and draw conclusions about religion. Influenced by experience, culture, and community, each of us ultimately chooses what is sacred to us.
I have told stories and read poetry from the Bible throughout the twenty-one years of my Unitarian Universalist ministry. Yet the Bible remains for me but one rich source among many human records that speak to us of the joys and challenges of being alive. – Rev. Donna Morrison-Reed"
Do you wanna come with me? 'Cause if you do, then I should warn you - you're gonna see all sorts of things. Ghosts from the past. Aliens from the future. The day the Earth died in a ball of flame. It won't be quiet, it won't be safe, and it won't be calm. But I'll tell you what it will be: The trip of a lifetime!

My religious beliefs are complicatedly simple. I don't belong to a specific religion, but I have faith in God. I believe that He created the human soul. When He sends a soul to Earth, demons invade it, taking part of it over. Each characteristic belonging to a human is either a demon or just your soul the way it was originally made. It's up to YOU to kill your demons by obeying God's orders, both written and unwritten.
There's more to what I believe in, but that's the basic gist.

I am non-denominational christian. My family is Catholic, and I was too, but this is in my past right now. I just don't believe in human authority, and think that we(christians) should listen to Lord's words(The Bible) first.
But it is my own opinion, so I understand and respect that yours may be different
And I also don't have problems with other beliefs (or their lack), this is personal matter and shouldn't be stigmatized

I am Lutheran. I believe in the triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). That the Bible is the true word of God, and it is without error. But I also believe that people often improperly quote it and use verses without context. I believe that He died and rose for everyone's sin, as we are all both sinner and saint. I believe He shows us incredible mercy and grace, and I am grateful that He Loves yesterday, today, and tomorrow the same no matter how badly we mess things up.

Other!
Well... I love religions, they are all beautiful, all of them have their own flaws, and I want to study them someday. And that is kinda why I don't want to have one. I don't want to be partial. Also, I wouldn't call myself a member of a group of people whose rules include condemning homosexuals to death just for being homosexuals, whether those rules remain applicable or not. I was raised as a catholic and when I turn 18, I'm totally apostating.
I decided that I wouldn't have a religion, but I would focus on enjoying and experimenting spirituality in my own way.
I don't like the idea of there being something bigger(as in terms of what we can do) than us and the forms of life that may or not may be in other planets. I do like the idea that god is a synonim for love and that it is in everyone of us, including animals.
If I have to find a word to describe it, I would call it areligious or agnostic, but this is something I feel better with without labels.

I am a Christian (non-denominational) but I do believe in science and evolution and I also support LGBT+ rights.
God has helped me through some pretty tough times, so I am very grateful to Him.

I do not believe in Catholicism, but I do believe there is a Hell. I believe in the Devil, angels, and demons. I think the stories in the Catholic Bible are interesting. I am basically a Satanist...The Devil is my father. I believe in LGBTQ+.
That god does not exist, I cannot deny
That my whole being cries out for a god, I cannot forget.
The gates of Heaven were locked shut. The pits of Hell, they were all filled up. And I fear I don't belong here.....

I see all religious texts as one big story that was told differently watered down to what actually happened. There's plenty of proof for it, but of course people think I'm dumb for having my own views

I believe that God is in the particles that make up the universe and not necessarily one whole being. I believe that he's some sort of alien. The bible is so old I don't believe that most of what it says is even accurate.

Merideth, technically there is a God Particle in physics... it's apparently what led to the Big Bang fourteen billion years ago and is what the Large Hadron Collider tries to find. Of course, that could lead to a microscopic black hole that would instantaneously destroy the Earth.
Oh, and my beliefs... I believe in spirits, guardian angels, and the after life. I don't answer to a higher power because when I try to pray, they go unanswered so I've given up on prayer and asking for favors by a higher power.

I'm an atheist. I started questioning Christianity in 8th grade and became agnostic. The following year (as a freshman) I became an outspoken atheist and have remained one since then

The black hole theory is incorrect. A black hole with insufficient mass won't be able to sustain itselt, and will simply vaporize.
The risk I took was calculated, but boy, am I bad at math.

I am devoutly Catholic and am semi-discerning religious life. I think the lifestyle of religious sisters (nuns) is beautiful and I feel called to that style of living, but am not sure if that is where the Lord wants me.
There's also a lot of misunderstanding and miscommunication on what the Catholic Church teaches. I am by no means a theologian, but if you have a question about something you've heard about Catholics or want to know the Catholic perspective, send me a PM and I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have. And do the research if I do not know the answer!
