Religion the good and bad

I am atheist and that isn't gonna change just to get that out of the way first

I have seen religious people say religion is all good but it is not but it isn't all bad I'm glad to say the kind of religious people that I find on this site aren't the kind I would call bad

so I got thinking what is good about it and what is bad about it

I would like to know what the good is I can give most of the bad (stereotypical I know)

what I see as bad about religion:

schools having to fight to teach evolution which is seen as scientific fact and most arguments against seem to misunderstand it

making things overcomplicated for gays and bi's

trying to convert the world

seeing every one who disagrees with you as evil

terrorism makes people more willing to die/kill because death isn't the end

sexism

these are things I have seen born from religion it is likely that none of these will apply to most of the people reading this

be offended or don't thats your choice

this information is incomplete what do you think is good about religion?

I am looking for things that are current so if it was 100 years ago then it doesn't count. you aren't going keep a worn out hammer around because you managed to fix something with it before it wore out
(meaning past usefulness doesn't justify clinging to a tool that is now useless)

It depends on the kind of religions you're talking about, honestly. The religion you're talking about, I can only see the bad side for the religion itself. The good side is that it gives people hope, it gives them something to believe in if they need it, and it gives them a group of people to belong to. If religion can make a sad person happy, then for their sake I am glad that they have it. I myself am a non-religious person so maybe someone else can list more things.

It doesnt matter that much, there are pros and cons to atheism too.
