I've been struggling to write anything. I have a few more ideas so I hope I can draw them out soon.
Your selfish heart is colder than a frozen lake
it's so cold that the middle split right in two
There is only so much manipulation I can take
and the drop in temperature started with you
The degrees dipped down lower than my sanity
though your ego somehow remained intact
Parenting was served with a side of vanity
no one ever saw through your act. In fact,
everyone was in complete awe of the show
They think I am lucky to call you my parent
I smile and nod even though I have to know
about the cold that isn't always so apparent
I let people think that you're just the best
that you're sugary sweet and everything nice
Little do they know that you put me to rest
my inner child's soul lies under that ice
Take each of your steps slowly now, my dear
you really don't want that thin ice to crack
Because once you're put to rest down here
you don't have a chance of coming back
If clarity's in death, then why won't this die?
Years of tearing down our banners, you and I
Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts
Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first
The axe forgets, but the tree remembers
