Portrait (short poem) - June 18th 2012, 02:31 PM

The "foe" here is that thing that brought us all to teenhelp.

Twice today my foe retreated,
And each time death was nigh.
He walked away... ashamed, defeated;
But lo! My foe was I!

I really like this, you wrote it well, I like the format you used here.

unique unusual form of writing, i must say. takes so much skill too.

I moved back while
my head was turned.

Upside down
closer to the end.

Afraid of the dark
within future times.

I'm drowning there,
my final chase.

I really liked this "But 'lo! my foe was I!" I think once we realize that the only thing that can keep us down is ourselves we are one step closer to getting to a better place. I hope you will continue sharing your work with us!

Thank you for all the lovely comments everyone. And yeah Courageous, that's precisely what I was going for

And better friends I'll not be knowing;
Yet there isn't a train I wouldn't take,
No matter where it's going."
