    Let's just say I don't need to run an antivirus, firewall or any other security . It's not hard to download, nor to burn to cd. The difficulty comes in installation.

    For example that's the beginner's guide for arch (it's simpler than it looks) but better to be safe than sorry: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners_Guide

    ubuntu is a more beginner friendly distro

    It's one of the Linux Distros which is an Operating System like windows.

    Arch is considered fast and light amongst distros which in turn is much lighter than vista
