Treat yourself (like a pet)

This came about due to struggling with self-care for many reasons (including trying to get my dissertation done....nearly there though!) and since I love animals and have been thinking about how people care for their pets, I thought we could extend that care to ourselves. Also, wanted to format it to be like a pawprint trail

Give yourself hearty and healthy meals,
And have plenty of fresh water available.
Learn new tricks,
Attend training classes,
And be rewarded with treats (though not too many!)
Explore places,
By yourself (or with others),
And play games too.

Stretch your legs,
(or paws, or hooves, or fins, or wings),
Brush your teeth and fur,
Trim those claws too.
Splash about at bath time,
And go to the vets (when needed),
Muck out your home,
(or your kennel, cage, hutch, tank or stable).
And snuggle up
(In your basket, blanket or bedding).

Express your emotions,
Growl or hiss,
(when you are angry)
Whine and cry
(when you are upset)
And wag your tail,
(when you are excited)

Be curious of your surroundings,
See, Sniff, Taste, Listen, Dig, Learn.
Live in the moment.
Love those who care about you,
(Your pack, litter, school, herd, or flock)
And let them love you too.
