Birth Control and Period? -
May 10th 2012, 04:39 AM
Okay, so this is really awkward for me, but I have a question. I'm not on birth control, and it's not like my parents haven't suggested it. But the only reason they have suggested it is because I have an extremely heavy period. It gets so bad that I get sick almost everytime. I'm as pale as a ghost, makes me vomit, and I'm super dizzy.
So how will the birth control help that? I mean other than stopping it or regulating it?
I know that most birth control pills are now designed to help with symptoms of your period. Because on birth control, you no longer ovulate, which causes most, if not, all of the symptoms we experience. Hopefully that link will provide some more insight for you.

I'm on birth control for these reasons. It makes periods lighter if you get on the right pill for you, which should help with your symptoms. I'd strongly recommend going with some form of contraceptive pill, rather than the implant or anything, though.

I'm on birth control for my periods as well. My periods were a bit heavy and irregular, and lasted quite some time. Now they are VERY light and almost regular, and they last for only a short time. Birth control definitely helps with the symptoms of periods as well, if you get the right one. Talk to your doctor about what pill would be right for you and I'm sure they can set you up with something.
