    relative to this post: http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f6-se...on-abstinence/

there are a lot of non-religious reasons for abstinence including a big one health and stud's. however, there is another that is really worth considering.

i don't know your age but generally speaking know this, "do you want a guy for love? or sex?" because here is a fact of life that i hate to admit but want to share:

"Guys give LOVE to get SEX"
"Girls give SEX to get LOVE"

one is emotional the other is physical. they don't mix. most guys just want to get in a girl panties and score another piece to notch their guns with. DO YOU want to be on a score card? or do you want love. don't give a guy sex and if he hangs around, he wants YOU not a PART of you. make sense?

    aw, infomative information barrage

That makes sense and I'm glad you know why. It's hard not having friends, I only have online friends. The ones in real life are acquaintances all the way. It's good you have goals but maybe they need a bit tweaking so that they're more specific=)
I'm so happy you spoke to your parents and that they're supportive. I hope it goes well. Sometimes we can't do it on our own and it's ok to receive help along the way, so I'm glad you did this keep me updated, yes?
thank you, I do feel kinda better

I'll be honest with you, I do have a tendency to binge or at least mini binge and overeat. Now I don't know if it's serious enough to be considered an eating disorder or not but it's definitely disordered eating. I eat when I'm bored and/or stressed. It's a way to fulfill my emotional emptiness. My emotional hunger.
There are also times when I skip meals because I lost appetite but that could have to do more with depression....

My dad on the other hand noticed and instead of linking it to a problem that needs recovery, he got mad at me but it's fine I guess. And well, now my sister seems to be taking on an eating disorder similar to anorexia. The thing with eating disorders is that they're very tricky. It's a mindset, and a mental concern first and foremost, secondly it's a physical concern. I'd say it falls between SH, depression, anxiety, lack of control in your life and addictive behaviors and other struggles or a combination.

okay, I'm sorry for the rant, it's really your turn to vent so I'll give you the "mic". But what I wanted to say is that, feeling terrible because of your weight or because you're trying to control your appetite and for whatever reason it's not working, isn't healthy in itself. What I mean to say is there's a reason for this, and making changes in your other areas in your life can help. I'll give an example to illustrate: Suppose someone self harms, right? taking away the tools they use is a step in the right direction, but it's also important to figure out the reason behind the need to SH in the first place. There's always an underlying problem and if ignored or only treated on the surface, the person will turn to another harmful behavior.

So being hard on yourself when you tried controlling your appetite and getting upset when it doesn't work out, might not be as effective. You're in pain, you're struggling and it's just as essential to understand what's causing this feeling that you need to binge? Relapses happen. But this is part of recovery and I'm and the rest of TH are here for you every step of the way.
Ask yourself why? and when you have the answer you'll be able to work on those issues. Then with time you'll let go of binging and learn better ways to cope with your life. I know easier said than done, because I struggle too. But I hope this helps at least a little <3

no it's fine, you're probably frustrated yourself so I understand. I'm sorry I'm not much help. I dont know how old you are but since you said you're doing the GED now, I'm assuming you're high school age which means you're not too far from being a legal adult. Also, since you're taking the GED is there a counselor equivalent to a guidance counselor in a high school that you can speak to about this? A lot of the time, those taking GED also have problems to deal with, so it's likely there is someone who is there to support students.

aw,I'm really sorry I get that too. The past few days have been terrible but now it's starting to look better (kinda) take one day at a time. Do something special for yourself to relax. Like a bubble bath, or watch a cool film. Little things go a long way.

    About me
I enjoy studying philosophy, Latin, history, culture, and biology. I've recently developed an uncanny interest in mathematics. As you can probably tell by now, I'm a bit of a nerd, but don't let that fool you! I'm pretty easygoing once you get to know me, though if I'm anxious about speaking with you for some reason or another, I'll go back to default - which is anything under the sun. I've been known to talk about specific World War II battles and tree evolution in detail when nervous about speaking to someone I admire. I'm not very good at reading people's emotions or reacting to them, unless I know the person in question very well. I'm very protective of my personal space (a range about four feet around me in any given direction), and my private time (which is set aside each day for studying and pondering). I struggle with religion of any sort, but can't live without it.

Don't be fooled by the way I talk: I really care about people, and am very concerned about the affairs of people that I don't even know. If you message me for any reason or another, I'll try to help you as best as I can, and if I don't know a way to help you, I'll research it. I'm nearly always online at least once a day.

Oh, and I'm an ENTP, for any of you who like psychology. ^_^
