It is the one thing
Most of us won't do.
It's not that we're not
Capable of letting go.
We'd just rather hold on
To all that sadness,
To all that bitterness,
To all that anger,
And sometimes, let it consume us.

How can we truly enjoy life
If we're never happy?
If we're always missing something?
If we're always angry?

When that person you don't want to see

To be a hero?

Look in the mirror,
and you'll know.

The concept,
Or even the word itself
Sounds cheesy
To a handful,
Believing that it's only
Child's play at best.

You don't have to
Fight bad guys,
Or get involved
In criminal affairs
To be considered
A hero.

To some,
Being a hero
Means staying strong
Through all the...

Abuse,
Self-harm,
Suicide,
Loneliness,
All of it.

It’s mind-blowing
To imagine
What all these things
Can do to a person’s mind
And to their well-being.

Sometimes these bad experiences
Can either make a person stronger,
Or it can turn them into something ugly.

I’ve seen the latter,
And it’s not pretty.

Memories racing through my head
Of everything I've been through,
And everyone that has ever
Come into contact with me.

Just when you think
Those people you used to call
"Close friends," "best friends,"
"Friends until the end," "trusted allies,"
Turned out to be complete lies.

These people never really cared
In the first place about you or me.

I wish sometimes that I could just shut down and disappear because right no that is all I want to do. I don't want to live anymore. I give up. I don't want to keep on fighting.
